Dan Gilbert – Chairman, Rock Gaming
In November 2009, Rock Gaming LLC Chairman Dan Gilbert and a team of principals successfully backed a state constitutional amendment bringing casino gaming to Ohio, and subsequently developed full-service casinos in downtown Cleveland, which opened in May 2012, and in downtown Cincinnati, which opened in March 2013. Dan is also chairman and founder of Quicken Loans Inc., the nation’s largest online home lender, and majority owner of the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers franchise. Gilbert and his family of 80+ companies employ 18,000 people nationally, with more than 5,000 in Ohio through the casinos, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the AHL Lake Erie Monsters and Quicken Loans Arena, as well as the Quicken Loans Web Banking Center, Bizdom U Cleveland and Veritix. He is a founding partner in the private equity group Rockbridge Growth Equity LLC, which invests in growing businesses in the financial services, Internet technology, consumer-direct marketing, and the sports and entertainment industries. The company has significant investments in Northcentral University, a premier online educational institution; Protect America, a leading home security company; and Triad Retail Media, an online retail advertising company. Dan is also a founding partner of Detroit Venture Partners LLC, a Detroit-based venture capital firm focusing on seed and early-stage technology companies in the Detroit area. Dan and his partners also operate and invest in several consumer-based, technology-centered businesses, including: Fathead, Veritix, Xenith LLC, and StyleCaster.
Matt Cullen – CEO, Rock Gaming
With a strong focus on redevelopment and workforce inclusion, Matt Cullen is leading Rock Gaming’s urban casino developments as chief executive officer. Matt played an active role in the successful passage of the 2009 state constitutional referendum which brought casino gaming to Ohio. He is also president and chief executive officer of Rock Ventures LLC, an umbrella entity formed to provide operational coordination, guidance, and integration to Quicken Loans and Dan Gilbert’s portfolio of companies and investments. Cullen is responsible for Gilbert’s “Opportunity Detroit” initiative, which is an effort to spark development in downtown Detroit and includes the 2010 relocation of Quicken Loans’ national headquarters to the City. In addition, he is the volunteer CEO of the M1-RAIL light rail line initiative that will be the foundation of a Southeast Michigan regional transit system. Matt is also the founding chairman of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, and was appointed by former Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Executive Committee, which he chaired for 10 years. A native Detroiter, Cullen is a 29-year veteran of General Motors where he was general manager of economic development and enterprise services and was responsible for the corporation’s vast 450 million sq. ft. global real estate portfolio.
Mark Dunkeson – President & COO, Rock Gaming
Mark Dunkeson joined Rock Gaming in October 2013 as president and chief operating officer.* He oversees the company’s strategic partnerships and operational responsibilities. Nathan Forbes – Principal, Rock Gaming
With his significant design and development credentials, Nate Forbes plays a critical role in Rock Gaming’s urban casino developments. Nate is also the managing partner of The Forbes Company, a nationally recognized developer, owner and manager of luxury shopping destinations throughout Michigan and Florida. These landmark retail properties include the highly acclaimed Somerset Collection in Troy, Mich., and three developments in Florida: The Mall at Millenia in Orlando; The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens; and Waterside Shops in Naples. Nate is also vice chairman of the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers.
Jeffrey Cohen – Principal, Rock Gaming
With a strong development and construction background, Jeffrey Cohen is a key driver of Rock Gaming’s urban casino developments. Jeff is also founder and CEO of Rock Companies, a real estate investment, development, construction and management company that focuses on commercial, residential, single and multi-family communities in Florida, Michigan, North Carolina and Ohio. In this role, he manages the firm’s capital and directs and oversees strategic planning, investment decisions and senior management operations. Jeff serves as vice chairman of the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers and is also a member of a small investor group that has interests in Quicken Loans, Title Source, Fathead, and Veritix.
Steve Rosenthal – Principal, Rock Gaming
Steve Rosenthal lends his accomplished design and construction expertise to the Rock Gaming team. Steve is also president of Rock Companies, a real estate investment, development, construction and management company that focuses on commercial, residential, single and multi-family communities in Florida, Michigan, North Carolina and Ohio. He has leadership responsibility for operations, acquisitions, underwriting and finance, and manages the establishment and implementation of governing policies and procedures companywide. Steve is also a member of a small investor group that has interests in Quicken Loans, Title Source, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Fathead, and Veritix.
Brian Hermelin – Principal, Rock Gaming
Brian Hermelin is a principal of Rock Gaming and is a founding partner of Rockbridge Growth Equity, LLC, a private equity firm which invests in growing businesses in the financial services, Internet technology, consumer-direct marketing, and sports and entertainment industries. Rockbridge investments include One Reverse Mortgage, a provider of FHA-backed reverse mortgages; Northcentral University, a premier online educational institution; Protect America, a leading home security company; Connect America, the fastest growing provider of personal emergency response systems; One on One Marketing, a premier provider of high quality leads; Purchasing Power, a niche e-commerce business that allows clients’ employees a way to purchase products through payroll deduction; and Triad Retail Media, an online retail advertising company. Brian is also a founding partner of Detroit Venture Partners LLC, a Detroit-based Venture Capital firm focusing on seed and early-stage technology companies in the Detroit area.
Len Komoroski – Principal, Rock Gaming
Len Komoroski is a principal of Rock Gaming, and is president of the Cleveland Cavaliers and their home court, Quicken Loans Arena (The “Q”). Len joined the Cavs after seven years as senior vice president and chief of business operations for the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, and has also held management roles with the NBA Minnesota Timberwolves, the IHL Cleveland Lumberjacks, MISL Pittsburgh Spirit and Minnesota Strikers, and the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins. At the “Q” Len has directed how the Cavaliers approach the business community, and has developed a staff featuring some of the top sports marketing executives in the industry. His collective efforts both on and off the floor have resulted in one of the top business turnaround stories in NBA history. He also led the transformation of the Cavaliers communications efforts and dramatic changes in developing one of the most dynamic game experiences in the NBA. Len also played a leadership role in the acquisition of the Q’s American Hockey League franchise, the Lake Erie Monsters, which started its inaugural season in 2007. Very active as a community and civic leader, Len is passionate about the future of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. In that regard, he is the chairman of the board for Positively Cleveland (convention and visitors bureau), and on the board of the Greater Cleveland Partnership (chamber of commerce) and the Downtown Cleveland Alliance, while also serving on Mayor Jackson’s Group Plan Commission which is charged with enhancing the connectivity between new and existing development in Cleveland.
